All-on-4® Reconstruction Case Q & A

What is an All-on-4® reconstruction case?

An All-on-4® reconstruction case is a restorative dental procedure that replaces your natural teeth with dental implants. During All-on-4 reconstruction, your dentist places four titanium posts into your jaw. The posts provide a durable foundation for a complete arch of artificial teeth.

All-on-4 reconstruction only takes one appointment. You leave the office with a fully restored smile and can bite and chew right away, no downtime required.

Do I qualify for an All-on-4 reconstruction case?

To determine if you qualify for an All-on-4 reconstruction case, the team at EZ Dental conducts an oral exam, reviews your dental health history, and asks about your goals.

Afterward, they take a series of digital 3-D X-rays to assess the health of your jaw and alveolar bone. In addition, the team uses these scans to plan your implant placement. The 3-D X-ray technology allows your dentist to identify the optimal location of each implant, ensuring safety, accuracy, and precision.

What does an All-on-4 reconstruction case involve?

The team at EZ Dental performs All-on-4 reconstruction on an outpatient basis. If your dentist determines that you’re a good candidate, they administer a local anesthetic to numb your mouth.

Then, they place the implants into your jaw –– four on top and four on the bottom. The implants quickly fuse with your bone through a process called osseointegration.

After placing the implants, your dentist uses an intraoral scanner to take digital impressions of your mouth. They use your impressions to design a pair of implant-retained dentures that mimic the color, function, and appearance of your natural teeth. Once they approve a design, they upload it to the on-site milling machine.

The milling machine manufactures a pair of custom dentures that align perfectly with your implants. After the machine finishes, your dentist lines up the dentures with your implants and securely attaches them.

Do All-on-4 dental implants require maintenance?

All-on-4 dental implants are like your natural teeth in that they collect plaque, tartar, and food particles. To keep them in optimal condition, practice good oral hygiene.

The team at EZ Dental recommends brushing twice daily, flossing regularly, and visiting the practice every six months for an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning.

To prevent damage to your restorations, like cracks or chips, avoid bad habits like nail-biting, opening objects with your teeth, or chewing on ice.
